If you wish to advance within the Rangers, there are several things that your senior officers look at. Here is a list of some things that we consider:

Be a Ranger
Always remember what it means to be a Ranger and act accordingly. Where the rest of the denizens of this realm have an 'every man for himself' attitude, Rangers are about the family first. If you do a full run through a dungeon, and every single piece of loot that drops is for a priest with nothing at all that you can use, be glad! There is now a well-equiped healer making the difference between your next victory and a short trip to the graveyard for everyone. A full suit of armor and shield for the group's tank is just as good. If that wall of steel collapses, there are some mean things behind it that think you look like dinner! And if a lot of things end up being useful only to the enchanter/salvager, you're a few steps closer to free enhancement!

Be there
Being active and present is the best way to get recognized. Join groups of Rangers in dungeons and public quests, or better yet offer to lead a group of younger Rangers! Join conversations in guild chat. Welcome people who sign on and say good night to those leaving. Answer questions asked by others, and ask some yourself. We notice how often you are online, how long you have been with the Rangers, but most of all how active you are in the guild.

Role-Playing
While by no means required, this is still one of the things that makes the Rangers special. While being mostly Elves gives us a unique dynamic which pushes us to be better players than those with a hodgepodge of classess, it also is an integral part of our social character. Playing the role of an Elven nation's army not only adds a depth to the game that the designers cannot provide, it adds a great degree of mystique, charm, and fun that is unique to the Rangers.

Eloquence
Elves across all worlds and realms are known to be noble and elite. The most common Elven farmer is expected to be more educated, better spoken, and more diplomatic than the greatest Human lords. This should come across to all we meet in the way we present and carry ourselves. Capitalize your sentences and proper nouns. Only use abbreviations when you must. At all costs avoid using the common chat contractions like 'u' and 'ur'. Avoid crude matter like drug references and fart jokes. Speaking with eloquence and distinction conveys an air of intelligence and refinement that the vast majority of those in this world are lacking.

Diplomacy
Rangers are expected to represent the Aeraean ways at all times. Be kind and generous to all you meet. Show gentility and courtesy to even the most crude and uncouth of both allies and enemies. Resist the temptation to spit on that orc that just killed you in the battleground. If some creep in a pickup-group steals the final boss's good drop and hearthstones out, just leave. No amount of yelling and complaining will change anything, but showing calm and decorum will gain you respect. Remember that you are flying the banner of the Rangers over your head at all times.

All of these are considerations, but if you want a quick and simple way to be a good Ranger, just remember the basic guildeline we all follow: Always give more than you take, and always offer more than you ask.
